A Whole New World

First let me preface this by saying that my sister and I are VERY different people. But I really enjoy it. We balance really well. But for example, I played softball most of my life. (most of you already know that) But my sister is far better than I ever was at softball but she has no interest at all in pursuing it. She had such a future in the game and could not care less. It killed me a little to watch so much talent just go to waste but she just has no interest. Which is fine, I have come to learn.

Yesterday my mom and sister and I went shopping for a prom dress. When I was in high school I never cared to go to dances but she loves them. We got to the store (a whole new world to me that makes no sense.) Those dresses cost so dang much. I was shocked. Almost every dress there cost more than my wedding dress including alterations and jewelry. Now I realize I got an AMAZING deal on my dress but really, why do you need to spend so much on a dress you will never wear again.

All of that ranting aside, I really had fun with it. I thought I would not enjoy it but it was so fun to watch my sister try on dresses. I think her excitement rubbed off but it was really fun to watch her try on every (and I mean EVERY) dress in the store. We even made the person working there take the dress off the manequin. She looked gorgeous in almost every one of them.

We finally found the dress. It fit perfectly and looked so great on her and I am so excited for her. Because my mom and I are not really into that stuff we don't really take girl's days very often and that is what is so great about Rachael. She brings something to our lives we would normally miss out on. I really had fun shopping with my mom and Rachael and had fun watching Rachael play dress up. I am really glad that our families are blessed to have such different personalities.

Rachael looks so beautiful in her dress and will have so much fun!!!

We Finally Gave In....

It seems like everyone these days has a blog. Don't get me wrong I love reading them. I really enjoy reading what my neices and nephews are up to, what my cousins are doing, and just reading my friends opinions. We have never really seen the need to start one, we never really thought anyone would want to know whats going on with us. We finally gave in. We are going to begin blogging. I hope you do want to read this and I hope it isn't boring but here goes nothing.

I thought it would be nice to give a small history of Jason and I. It's hard to say exactly when we met. We were both involved in student government at Salt Lake Community College. For about a year, or a year and a half we had all the same friends. Spent every day in the same office but never had a conversation. We had both heard extensively about the other though. One day in the fall of 2004 we had a conversation. I don't really remember what about, I know Jason could tell you though. But we finally had talked to each other. We began spending more and more time together (Don't kid yourself though, all of these conversations and time together happened within about a week or less). I finally invited Jason to meet some friends and I at a dance. We had our first kiss that night, October 1st. It was a whirlwind from there. By November 1st we had decided that we were going to get married. On November 19th, Jason proposed. We were married January 14th 2005. It was all very fast and our families were so great to support us during this rush of events.

Now, we live in Bountiful/Woods Cross. We do not have any children yet. Jason works for an Engineering Company called ECI (Electrical Consultants Inc.) where he is a Designer. He really enjoys working there and this job has provided many opportunities for him. We are fortunate enough that he works just a mile or so from home, he gets to come home for lunch everyday. Jason is attending school at the University of Phoenix. This school has been a great fit for Jason and he is doing really well in his classes. His major is Business Administration.

As for me I am currently kind of just at home. I work for one of my aunts (Karen) doing phone calls and clerical work. Once a week I go to the Family History Library with my aunt Tricia and do obviously family history. I love going to do this. We have such a great time and family history is such an amazing experience. I really never saw myself as someone who could be entertained or even interested at all in this enormous project. I really have grown to love it and am really loving learning where and who I come from.

One of the most interesting things about us now is that we attend a branch here in Woods Cross. It has given us some real chances to serve in ways we would normally not get a chance to. Jason is currently (and has been for the last year or so) the Elders Quorum President. I am the second counselor in the Relief Society Presidency and am in charge of enrichment activities. We love the experience and have really had some amazing missionary experiences as well. This gospel is such a wonderful work and it has been so awe inspiring to see the Lord work.

That's us in a nutshell. I hope everyone enjoys reading about us, and being involved in our lives, (however boring it is.)
